Sorry havent been blogging for eons. Actually dont have the mood to blog since there arent any pictures, and Facebook is a better platform to 'blog' since alot of people can read it easily when they check their own Facebook profiles.

This CNY was pretty okay. All my cousins all growing up, see everyone still okay okay, collecting hongbaos. Im thankful that i can even get some, not so much amount-orientated now.

Ate alot of snacks. My gym session benefits have been eradicated and replaced by fatsssssssssss.

And i tripled my $14 capital in a game of Black Jack. My poor uncle lost alot lol. Hope i'll win the Toto $10 mil draw.

Life in army still pretty okay. I'm getting on my staff sergeant's good side more, by doing powerpoint presentations for him. And come to think of it, there's no rush to go to driving course, since i got so much time to clock my mileage. Anyway gonna get a 'bunny' soon. Seeing the 'bunny' artist this friday for consultation.

Christmas is coming and i dont care

Another day another problem. The 10 days when Diana was not around, passed much too fast. When she comes back, she brings problems with her. This christmas is a shithole. Seeing all the perfect little families celebrating and enjoying and giving gifts and having wholesome meals. Only reason im not hating Christmas is for the fact that Jesus is born on christmas day (or so everyone says. Someone told me research showed he was born in march.)

Today when i reached home, had to deal with shit. I'm tired man. Felt giddy and then just took a nap. I'm not expecting anything from this christmas or my birthday or the next few christmases. Expectations only leads to satisfaction or in most cases, disappointment. Not worth it.

Medical day

I had physiotherapy this morning and my specialist checkup. My physiotherapist is this girl from NYP on attachment. Really friendly. Too bad wont be seeing her anymore.

Anyway when i was walking my dog, i got stung by a bee. Stung my middle finger on the left hand. First time i got stung by a bee so it was an interesting experience. Anyway i was in pain so i wanted to rush back to treat the wound. But my stupid dog chose today to be extra stubborn. So he escaped from his leash and ran away from my door, along the corridor. I chased him down and gave him the hardest beating and loudest scolding in years. He was damn terrified of me after that.

And my mum didnt pay handphone bills and our lines got cut. So i had to pay them myself. First time paying bills and its pretty easy. Next time i'll pay my own stuff by myself.

Anyway there's a certain bitch who's pissing me off. I say **** you and get a life.

Saw Lydia's blog and i got listed for the quiz thingy. As much as i would like to do it, being bored and all, i dont find it appropriate to answer the questions in relation to the latest tag i recieved haha.

I got my leaves back. Not so sucky now. I'm feeling feverish and having a headache. Slept under the super strong fan in the rainy night last night. Nose blocked and making me frustrated. Feeling bitter about lots of stuff.

Had a christmas party last saturday. Wasnt really in the mood for it. Christmas time isnt a very happy time for me, especially this year with all the shit i have to put up with.

Stupid Gedong

I think i wont be blogging so much on my problems for a while. Makes me weak and vulnerable.

Well anyway, i applied leave for the coming monday and the days surrounding Christmas but due to some unknown and stupid reason, i have to back to reapply my leave. @*&%@*&%$%*&*@$^(^@^($@. And rumour has it that our driving course is gonna start really soon so i cant take leave during my course. @@$Y@&Q*&Q#*%*$. What a ball-buster.

Yesterday i went to Jurong Point for awhile and DAMN it's gotten huge. Really great to see that a heartland mall has become of such high standard, and in the west somemore.

Last week i met up with my secondary school mates for dinner and chat. Really great to see all of them again haha. So true, Lishi. Guys in army usually just talk about army stuff hur hur.

Long story, with lots of channel-8-drama plots, twists, and hateful resentment.

I have no idea who (or anyone) reads my blog now. It's pretty much outdated and uninteresting so here's my pathetic attempt to post something interesting.

I helped draw a colouring cartoon template for kids and helped become a judge for the kids colouring contest and i got a nifty cert from CDAC! Pretty much overkill sia. Only 2 people got certificates of appreciation for the urban challenge event last saturday. One was given to me and the other was given to representitives of Ngee Ann Poly! (Or NYP i cant remember.)

But i was super tired after the event that i went home and slept. Only spent like, 2 hours outside at the event LOL.

And this is the colouring template for the kids. Theme was chinese culture. Wrecked my brains for 4 days doing this.

Oh i caught Madagascar 2 too. It's pretty simple and predictable BUT the animation style is quite good and very hilarious. I practically LOLed during the last part with Alex and Zuba and the New Yorkers. (FYI, the voice of Zuba is the late Bernie Mac, who did worked on this and another movie before passing away.)

Pretty old news but i did get a red PSP for myself, upon hearing that driver's life in NS would be pretty slack and boring. True to a certain extent. While i'm waiting for my drivers course to start, i play PSP alot and do abit of area cleaning here and there. Burned my whole NS pay away, this one.

My favourite pair of Skull slippers recently got spoilt and i had to get a new one. So i went JP and found a pair of Lacoste ones on sale! Wooo. 25% off baby! Thought of looking for Shermaine that day. Apparently she works there but took 15 mins and a few SMSes for her to tell me that she is at home at that time i was there. -_-

And now i'm kinda used to my haircut but i still do miss my canvas of a hair, the one where i love to dye in different colours and style :(

Well life's pretty much the same at my new camp. While i made some new friends, i feel like im getting distant from my buddy who got posted to Sungei Gedong with me from Jurong camp. He mixes with the other guys there better and so when im following them around, im usually at the back, being quiet cos when i talk to them, i tend to be ignored.

And then overnight i suddenly became broke cos the bank deducted a purchase i made with a credit card late, which i thought they already deducted. So now my bank available balance is in the red. My life sucks pretty much so far.

Sadly no pictures to update this blog post still. Anyway, i got my posting already. I'm a driver trainee at Sungei Gedong camp. It's a super isolated camp near Lim Chu Kang cemetery.

On the upside, we have nothing to do at the unit until my drivers course starts (which wont till a few months later) so all we do is wake up to eat, play PSP, lunch, and fall out. Everyday after 5pm we get to book out to go out of camp and be back by 10pm. So i got lots of freedom there and things aren't so bad. My mood has risen too!

Deeeeeeepression

While my entire company went out to field camp, i had to do saikang (shitty tasks). On the first day i traveled to the camp site and set up tents and other stuff for the commanders. (Btw a HUGE friggin millipede scared me to death.) Made friends with the medic there and found out more about my future as an OOT.

First time i ate combat rations. Better than i expected actually. So afterwards did more saikang to and fro the campsite and company line. In the end i had to do most of the saikang myself since the other 2 OOTs who were supposed to help me got posted out in the afternoon (stupid sissy boy got a slack vocation at the military band) and the storeman is a big pile of lazy turd.

That night was the scariest by far. At 11pm, the company line was dark and quiet. My bunk was on the 4th level. I went to crap alone. I washed my clothes alone. I showered alone. I slept alone. If you're in army, you're bound to hear all the ghost stories. I prayed excessively every moment i'm alone, praying that Jesus would protect me from any spirits.

2nd day of field camp. I'm supposed to return to the campsite to do MORE saikang but my ankle got strained from the previous day and it hurts like hell. Went to see the Medical Officer about it (just to kill time) and he excused me from heavy load duties. I stayed up in my bunk the whole day. Slowly counting the hours till sleeping time. Read every magazine laying around, every book and brochure. Also did pull up trainings from time to time (from a 0 fighter, i can now do 6 with ease. Hurray!)

Then came a pleasant surprise. Raymond, from my platoon, came back from the hospital and will be joining me at the company line as a future OOT! Finally, some company!

Sergeant Major left a few rat traps on the ground floor and in the morning, we found 2 rats trapped. The trap is like a rectangular surface covered with super strong glue. At the centre of it is the bait (muffins in this case) and when the rat gets to it, it gets stuck. Then it will try to pry itself free from the glue but it tears its skin off instead, resulting in heavy bleeding. Eventually it dies. Anyway we had to clear it and throw them into the dumpster and one of the rat isn't even fully dead yet. The thing kept screeching when we went near it.

Anyway i made another guy clear it since me and Raymond did all the saikang in the morning haha!

Anyway, as my section continues training and i wait and the sidelines to get posted out, slowly i feel more excluded from them and become transparent.

Oh and i happen to see a note in the company office. It's a reminder to the sergeant on duty that day to collect Rec Keith Chan's (OOT) posting from xxxxxx place on the 28th Oct. I think i'm getting my posting details on tuesday and then starting my new BMT life on wednesday. Hope i become a clerk or driver :/

Waking up at 2am to pee is scary

Okay it's confirmed that i am an OOT now. So i'm gonna be posted to another unit for a few months until i have to recourse in BMT. According to some rumours i heard, my recourse would be near my ORD date. Anyway i hope in the meantime i'll become a driver or clerk, so long it's on mainland and 8am-5pm-5days-a-week kind of posting.

So far, the highlights of my week are nothing much, just sit around with a fellow OOT, who's an effeminate skinny boy who gets on everyones nerves. Some of my bunkmates caught a spider and 2 grasshoppers. They made a box into a colosseum for them to fight. Nothing much happens when we watch them but overnight the spider ate 1 of the grasshoppers then ate the other, hours later.

I've also said goodbye to my wife, F103. Thursday was the last time i took her out, cocked her, stripped her and oiled her. Never again will i get to touch her.

My platoon also got alot of punishment for being slack and all that. I dont know if it's normal for every batch but ours seems kinda serious. Our platoon do have a few cocks though.

Oh well. Next week me and the girly boy will be preparing the rations for the rest of the company. Other than that, we'll be rotting alone at the company line.

Been to my specialist appointment. Had the whole day free on mainland. The idea of being away from Tekong is literally exhilerating. When your feet actually touch Pasir Ris, you feel so safe, so joyful. Today has been a great day for me, sadly i gotta book-in in 2 hours time.

Oh i went to Alexandria Hospital for my specialist check up on my ankle this afternoon. Looks like there's a superbly high chance i will OOT and become a driver or clerk or something, somewhere. I think the doctor even recommends that i be posted to a vocation with a physiotherapy facility.

Looks like my left ankle will get its much needed rest. It's been 2 weeks of painful hell for it.

Sorry, dad! I can't make it to OCS and become an officer just like you :(

Shame. I don't think i'm such a nice person a lot of times :/

Past few weeks all i could concentrate on is army so i havent been blogging. Anyway here's a quick update.

My old ankle injury got injured again during the 3rd week of training and it has been hurting ever since. I'm going to the specialist on wednesday to have things checked. From the looks of things, there'll be a moderate-high chance that i'll be OOT (Out Of Training), meaning i down pes because my ankle cannot keep up with the intensity of the running trainings.

So, yea.

My last service till enlistment

Oh yes, today is the last church service as a Singapore Citizen for the next 2+ years. I'll be enlisting on the 13th of September, next Saturday. Good bye, gold hair! It's been a pleasure! Anyway check my blog on the coming friday, i'll try my best to make a final post with the promised 'botak' image of myself haha!

Anyway after service, a whole bunch of us went to Vivocity to eat. I left 30 mins later as i have a movie date with Nicolette and the others. We watched 'Make it happen'. It's a good show, but not to my liking so my opinion of the show is biased. After that we chilled at Starbucks for awhile before wandering around and eventually going home.

Oh noes i'm so broke! (By the way a few months ago, when i said my mum gave me $30, and i said that's the first time in years that she have given me money, i learned that she actually sold my insurance policy for that money. I have no idea how she did that but i'm just clarifying my mistake here.)

Steamboat lunch with 2E1 family

Today we had a steamboat lunch at Lydia's place, the main purpose was to say farewell to those going to the army soon (Me and Karwoon) and also to celebrate Lydia's belated birthday. Desmond was the only one missing from our family because he books out too late to join us. So we left him a spot at the group shot haha! (I look gugu but i don't care haha. Self-secured :p)

I Wall.E-ed Again!

Yesterday i did my work at the Trybe centre. I did manage to complete a few key areas of the website but my client wanted a few things to change. So unmotivated to continue :(

Well anyway Nicolette brought me a bottle of Chicken Essence, and insisted i take it after knowing that i hadn't drank it since primary school haha! Thanks, girl!

Anyway after she knocked off work, she, Jamie, Steven Jr, Kai and I went and watched Wall.E at The Cathay. Watching a second time, i noticed a few more things that i missed out the first time i watched. Like how the animators use actions to portray a meaning. Just as good the second time. One thing though, there were a group of girls sitting beside me that kept commenting in chinese on EVERY scene in Wall.E.

After that it was chicken rice at the famous place near Parklane. Well anyway it was a great day for me, though there were change in plans (:

No more Trybe wall!

It's official. The Trybe wall design project that me and Ben were working on is put on hold. So we won't be painting the wall anytime in the near future. Well anyway, i tried to do my work at the centre yesterday but it got unusually crowded and noisy! Couldn't concentrate and do anything. Argh!

Well anyway after Nicolette knocked off work yesterday, me, Ben, her and Kai wanted to catch a movie. In the end Ben couldn't join us cos he had to shop for a shirt for his graduation today. The remaining 3 of us caught 'Death Race' at 9:30pm at Tampines mall. It's really nice of Kai and Nicolette to watch that with me, since Kai will be watching it the second time and Nic the third LOL!

After the movie, there werent any trains for me to go home. So i planned to stay till the next morning (about five hours wait) till the MRT starts service again. At first Kai didnt let me, cos he felt they were abandoning me. I followed them to their buses and eventually, i took the bus with Nic to hougang since there was an MRT station there and as a gentleman, i must make sure she got back safely. Plus, i had 5 hours to kill.

There, her dad was waiting for her. One thing led to another, and in the end, she and her dad were sending me back home at Lakeside by cab! LOL THAT MUST HAVE COST THEM A BOMB! But i was really touched by her father's kindness and generosity. My heartfelt thanks to Nicolette, her dad and Kai :)

Back from Volunteer Equipping Camp; My day on Thursday

Huh, for a moment i couldn't load blogger and google on my computer. Freaked me out abit. I upgraded to Firefox 3 thinking that was the solution but it wasn't and now i'm stuck with crappy FF3.

Anyway, i just came back from a 2D1N Volunteer Equipping Camp by Trybe at Vision Farm. Really very fun! Alot of people liked to play with my 4XL camo sweater. I don't have any pictures with me. I only used Nicolette's camera to snap some shots and used other people's handphone to take my own photo and set as their wallpaper haha!

Anyway about my day on Thursday, i kinda forgot what i wanted to blog about, so i'll just share the newest addition to my Transformers Collection:

That's the only triple transformer (Robot, Tank, Plane) in the current Transformers cartoon series. This guy is a super duper rare find. I didn't even know he existed and i happen to see him at the shop. Straight away bought it. Cost me $58. Ouch.

Pixar's latest animation hits the screens in Singapore on the 28th of August, undoubtedly one of the last 'major' location in the world to have the film officially screening (Malaysia is 1 month faster than us!)

Anyway, when i watched this movie with Ben and Melvin, i was ecstatic throughout the entire movie. Before i begin reviewing the general categories, i wanna STRONGLY suggest that NO ONE SHOULD WATCH THIS FILM THROUGH ILLEGAL MEANS and when you watch it in the theatres, WATCH IT IN DIGITAL FORMAT!

STORY [10/10]
Wall.E contains a story plot so simple that words are not needed to tell it yet so powerful that it really made me wanna weep with joy and sorrow (but i controlled it to maintain my macho-ism). The 2 main characters, Wall.E and EVE, communicate through basic words but the story is told through the adventures and obstacles they face, and their goal through visual graphics and elements. The story is so fitting for all ages, kids will understand and enjoy Wall.E's main goal and adults will understand more of the emotions involved. And there are many humourous scenes throughout the film so the film is not to dragged down by the more sorrowful plot.

COMPUTER GRAPHICS [10/10]
In my previous movie review, i mentioned that Kung Fu Panda by Dreamworks have taken the lead in the industry's animation standard but now Wall.E has surpassed it and bettered KFP by at least two fold. I'm not exagerating about this!

The character designs employs basic shapes to define their characters, so even in the distance you can recognize Wall.E or EVE just by their shape. Simple yet it works well (EVE was designed to look like the current Mac computers; Wall.E was somehow designed after a robot back in the 1980s named Johnny 5).

The colours used in the show were so well picked. Everything was just visual candy.

And the clever use of depth-of-field and deliberate handy-cam movements & zoom makes the whole animation feel more realistic, as if a camerman is capturing it all.

The 'special effects' (laser blast, explosion, etc) are also top notch. Feels so realistic and yet suits the style of the animation.

And also the minor details that make everything real are so subtle but yet well executed (the opening scene with the scrap metal tower, each block has a cloth-like material flowing as the wind breezes by).

ACTING & SCRIPT [10/10]
If you didn't know, ALL animations actually have acting involved, very much like a real movie's actors. In an animation case, the actors are the animators themselves. The animators are the ones who control each part of the body to react with the scene (like how they animated Wall.E to shiver and have his 'eye brows' slant to make him look terrified). The computer can never duplicate this result as naturally as how an animator acts it out.

The physics in the whole movie was so realistic that it was absolutely believable (physics are how things would react in real like, like how would the debris of the ship explode and how far would those bits and pieces fly).

There's little dialogue between the two leads but their choice of singular words can portray their intention well. The dialogue between the humans are natural enough and well suited.

The comedic and cartoon-ish style of animation at times also lightens the mood and makes the film enjoyable to watch.

MUSIC & SOUND EFFECTS [10/10]
Another general area of an animation (or movie) where alot of the viewers tend to underestimate. The sound effects were all synthesised by their in-house audio engineer and all of them fit the visual counter-parts excellently. The musical score was very complimentary to it's respective scene, rather then trying to overpower it or underpowering the emotion of the scene.

(FYI, Wall.E's fully charged-up sound is the Mac computer's start up sound. Steve Jobs from Apple used to own Pixar and under his leadership, Pixar has gone on to world fame through their animations, thanks to him giving them the freedom to explore 3D animation.)

MOVIE RATING [10/10]
Wall.E is the very first movie i ever rated a perfect 10 and it truly deserves it's perfect score. A definite must-watch and suitable for any leisure occasions.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars (Synopsis: http://www.gv.com.sg/moviedetails/gv_moviedetails_7708.jsp)
This is a 3D animation which follows the Clone Wars in the Star Wars saga. In happens after Star Wars Episode 2: Attack of the Clones and before Star Wars Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith.

There is also a cartoon series of the same title, shown on Cartoon Network in USA which happens the same as this 3D animation. A preview of that cartoon can be found here. Do note that this movie is more favourable to children and Star Wars fans.

STORY [5/10]
This movie is actually a jump start for the new animated series 'Star Wars: The Clone Wars' which is to be shown on Cartoon Network very soon (not sure about Singapore cable though). So in fact, this movie is actually the first 3 episodes of the series combined into one big movie. So as the series is very large, it is to be understood that there are more than 1 storyline during the Clone Wars.

So this is just to rate the storyline shown in the movie.

The story is pretty straightforward, with abit of thinking to understand the twist. But still it is a very simple twist and so the story plot climax doesn't bring you through a roller coaster ride.

The Jedi have to stage a rescue operation of the kidnapped son of Jabba the Hut. The Confederacy of Independent Systems, or CIS or just known as the Seperatists, wants to stop the Jedi.

Contrary to what the synopsis at GV says, i DO NOT recall seeing General Grievous AT ALL, let alone him fighting with all 4 lightsabres.

COMPUTER GRAPHICS [7/10]
The 3D modellers have done a great job interpreting the 2D cartoon designs into this 3D animation. The textures on everything adds a nice tough and depth to the whole animation.

However me and Damian found the movements to be a big jerky. Whether it is deliberate or because the technical skills of the animators are not good enough, it just makes the action sequences abit hard to watch for a long time.

Also alot of the camera angles are pretty boring and not dynamic enough, or is too close in the action.

And the lightsabre fight choreography is terrible. It looks like them sparring abit, and pausing alot to exchange words. Not 1 epic lightsabre battle at all.

But still, you can't judge how unrealistic or realistic they try to make each and every object as that's the style opted for this film.

ACTING & SCRIPT [6/10]
The dialogue use in the film were pretty simple and straightforward. Easy to take in and to understand. Their snappy remarks are abit funny at times but tends to be too expected. A few of their lines are in reference to the live-action movies' dialogue, but only Star Wars fans would notice them easily.

The physics and movement are abit rigid, especially seen with the clone troopers. They tend to walk like robots, with a too subtle bounce in their steps.

All the Seperatists droids have Microsoft Comedian installed. The droids have emotions, make human errors, and are just meant to make the audience laugh and have the clone troopers something to shoot at.

MOVIE RATING [6/10]
Probably not such an enjoyable film to non-Star Wars fans but it's pretty much a disappointment to me, as a SW fan myself. Hopefully the televised episodes will redeem themselves. Just a side note, this movie and the whole series was animated in Singapore, at the Lucas Arts Singapore office (the acting, movement, placement and modelling of all the characters and objects). The post-editing and audio are done in the US, at the Skywalker Ranch.

Also try to watch in Digital format! The traditional one is very irritating, with all the film grain and scratches.

Here's a small preview of the Trybe wall design. Expect to see my characters, Happy & VIP, on the design!

Happy & VIP first appeared on a pair of shoes i painted for Felicia and then they appeared again on my art portfolio book cover.

So far progress on the DESIGN has been slow but it looks wicked cool. Ben doing a great job, especially since his strength isn't in illustration. Hope we can paint the whole wall finish within a week! Probably next week though, this week don't have much time.

I think i'm gonna reply tags on my blogpost now, because it's neater and more organized. Plus, cbox only can store a certain amount of messages at a time and i don't want my replies to be taking up a portion of it. So i'll be replying tags at the bottom of my latest post and you guys feedback whether it's better!

Today's service had a very nice message. It really spoke to me. It talks about how more and more families are broken because the man of the house is usually not present or occupied with work. Really pray that God will use Jason Wong, the main speaker, lead the fatherhood movement in Singapore to success.

As i sat there listening to how all the fathers at the altar pray for forgiveness to their families and all that, i just can't help but feel alot of pain in my heart.

Well anyway after service, we went to Suntec to eat Carl's Jr. Haha we all finally persuaded Jessica to eat and fellowship with us, rather than go home and rot.

At the 'Simply Toys' toy store, Henzy found a Transformers Brawl action figure, with the box in pretty good condition. And the price was cheaper than i expected.

So i bought it and it's now proudly displayed with the rest of my collection. Yay! And just to show off my humble collection of Transformers:

My schedule is very jam packed now. I have about 3 more weeks of freedom before enlistment. I got a website project halfway done, a wall design job (which im very psyched about) and lotsa lunch/dinner appointments. I want my Vitamin C!

Johor Bahru excursion

This is abit of an overdue post! I would have blogged yesterday but i dropped my phone in the cab and pictures were in them. Thank God Wayne and Anthony was still in the cab to retrieve it for me.

Okay i'll start with the Johor Bahru trip i took with Ben and Melvin.

We went to JB on Thursday. My main purpose of visit was to get nice and cheap knee-length shorts. We left Kranji in the morning. Immigration was pretty smooth cos there weren't so many people on a weekday morning.

Anyway our first stop was City Square. There we converted Singapore Dollars into Malaysian Ringgit. The Singapore dollar grew stronger against the Malaysian RM. The current conversion rate was SGD100 = RM235, that's more than the previous double ratio.

So after that, we ate lunch at Kim Gary Hong Kong Restaurant. Ben made alot of hype about the place, being cheap and good. I found it especially irritating because the celebrity endorser, Kim Gary, is plastered all over the menus.

I'm not a food critic, so i'll just say that the food quantity is okay for the price you pay. I didn't really like or dislike mine. Looks like some rojak nissin noodles. That cost me RM11.90.

After that we straightaway went shopping. There were alot of pencil girls all over the place and i counted 27 at the end of the day. Just something to do while waiting in between.

I don't have any photos of us shopping but i got 2 knee-length shorts for about RM120. There was a 1-for-1 offer on RL polo tees at F.O.S. Me and Melvin got one each and split the cost. That's about RM40 each. And i got a pair of high-cut Converse shoes for RM70! That's like below half of what it would cost it Singapore! Major steal!

So at 4pm, my bag was already full of my shopping. We combed through the whole of City Square by then. Next, Melvin called his mum to ask where else would be a point of interest for shopping. According to her, Tebrau Plaza was ideal and a cab there would cost RM18.

Tebrau Plaza looks like some giant warehouse building from the outside, looks nothing like a shopping mall. But the inside is pretty much like Singapore's Vivo city. We didn't do any shopping there, although they got a lot of outlets.

We ate our dinner at Manhattan. Singapore's outlet is at Plaza Sing. Anyway, we were 3 hungry guys. So we ordered the 3 different types of Fish & Chips they had. (Pacific Cod, Alaskian Pollock and Pacific Dory) AND we ordered Seafood platter for 2, to share among us.

All that food only cost us RM114.55!So converted to SGD, each of us paid SGD16.24 for our huge dinner! GREAT VALUE! RM44.50 was our lunch btw lol.

In total, i exchanged SGD100 and i charged RM60 to my mastercard. So i spent about SGD126, excluding cab fares. VERY worth it!

Project Trybe wall?

My Joker keychain is gonna be retired! Henzy gave it to me for my birthday or christmas, i cant remb lol. Anyway Commander Cody will take over now haha. Bought him for $7.90 in anticipation of the up-coming Star Wars 3D film.

Anyway my website project has been a burden on me cos i have absolutely NO mood to work on it at all. That's why i've engaged Fat to be my partner haha. I gotta finish that so that next week i can start on...

Project Trybe Wall Design! Nic has commissioned me and Ben to work on the new Trybe wall painting. The previous one done by the talented Zero & Trase (both famous grafitti artists in Singapore) was too abstract for the neighbouring residents to appreciate and to cover it quickly, it was sloppily painted a plain and dirty gray by numerous Trybe volunteers. This is the kind of fun work i enjoy! Details are still under discussion but i'll blog about it again once it's confirmed.

Oh and no movie review for The Love Guru but know this: it's not worth paying to watch this movie in the cinema.

My monday

Saturday i fell sick again, so i stayed home the whole day to rest. Oh and saturday was my convocation ceremony, the ceremony where i officially graduate and take my diploma. Sucks. I had to produce an MC to prove i couldn't make it or else then will fine me $120 plus i lose the deposit for the ceremony gown. So without MC i would have lost $196. In the night i went to the nearest medical facility, which was a hospital to get an MC and medicine. Hooray huh...

I overslept on sunday and missed church. Went for Ivan's birthday dinner at night though. Happy birthday Ivan (i know you don't read my blog ever but i'll just say anyway).

Anyway this morning, while wearing my shirt, my eyebrow stud got hooked onto the shirt's tag and i yanked it my accident. It tore abit of the skin of my eyebrow and it bled. Didn't hurt so much physically as it did emotionally cos i've growned to love my eyebrow piercing! Will get it again after army if it closes up!

Anyway today i went down to Planet CRUSH (i have no idea whats the exact name of the place). It's the LAN shop TOUCH services own that teach about cyberwellness. I was there to facilitate and teach a group of students from Hong Kah sec on how to play Counter-Strike. Okay lah, i was tempted to go frag some food with my pwnzors skillxors but i was just server host and spectator.

Today an old secondary school friend asked if i wanted to do design project for the company she works at but it's too late, seeing that im entering the army soon. Then she asked me out for lunch one day before i go in. So weird, i wasn't very close to her at all, so i'm kinda surprised and reluctant to go :/

I'm still bothered by the spat i had.

Oh man. After hours of toiling, i've brought my blog up to the next version! I should have kept track of all the edits i ever did by using a version system. I think this is like blog v4.0! I'll talk more about it later on the post.

Anyway today was a long and tiring day for me. Was supposed to go to my client's office to discuss the website details but when i woke up, my boss informed me he was sick, so cant fetch me down. Damn sian cos the office is like in the industrial estate at woodlands. Damn far damn ulu.

I took too long to get ready, although my client said she was free the whole day so no rush, but i have alot of errands to run today. In the end i decided to discuss over the phone, but i was already on the MRT.

So instead, i went to Plazs Sing, ate at McDonald's and discussed the details. It took like only 15 mins. Imagine me travelling all the way there just for 15 mins!

Well anyway, today was a DAMN BLOODY HOT DAY. Luckily i anticipated that (well actually i sweat pretty easily. Wish Singapore would snow!) so i brought a change of clothes mwahaha.

I had to walk under the blazing sun from Plaza Sing to Raffles Photography studio (like 15-20 mins walk cos i got lost haha) just to rent my graduation robes! And then walk back! Argh.

Next i went to Chinatown to look for my Uncle. Talk about stuff and get a pair of shoes from him too (he used to sell shoes and had a few stock left).

And i had cell group in the evening later on but when i finished my errands, it was 3pm, so i went to Planet CRUSH and played DotA and Counter-Strike with the guys there. They were quite noobish, actually :p

Well after that was the usual stuff. Oh yea i finally got this picture. Last week was with my 2e1 family (some were absent that day) and we played Citadel and some numbers game which Desmond was very lucky at hahaha. Cool thing was, we played till 1:44am! I look weird in this picture, me thinks.

Oh and if didn't notice, i made several more changes to upgrade my blog! I am gradually phasing out all the text links into image links and i must say, it looks pretty great! Only a few people i have not gotten a photo of. Oh and if you are unhappy with your image banner on my blog, let me know so i'll change it. It's the respect you guys deserve :) Also i moved the blog categories down above the archives, because it's causing my blog banner to load as the last image on my blog. And i also removed the imeem player. Waste space haha!

Oh and i do acknowledge that there is an alignment problem with my blog now. I accidentally deleted something and messed it up. I'll fix it tomorrow cos im tired and not feeling too well now :(

My cold is better cos of all the thick yellow phlegm i spit out. But on the other hand, my flash program in my com just happened to crash after i was working on a website for a client. It took me 1 month to have the motivation to get started on this project and now my computer ****ed me up. Motivation gone down the drain. And my desktop mouse's sensor is haywire, mouse don't work properly. Friggin hell, it's the newer of my 2 computer mice somemore and so fast spoil.

Something just has to go wrong at any point of my life sia. Screw it lah.

I am AHCHOO still sick

Heya people thanks for the well wishes :) I'm currently still sick and i feel like crap, especially when my nose blocks up and it's hard to breathe. Ocassionally i would sneeze and my sneezes are huge bursts that actually hurts my chest for sneezing too violently. And when i sneeze, i sneeze in a chain of up to 6 times consecutively. Ouch :( AND! my cough is killing me. Ran out of strepsils. I think i'll probably go to the doc soon :S

Well anyway, like what Ben did on his blog, i've also dug out some old photos which i originally wanted to submit to engrish.com but now FAIL is the in-thing. So here are mine:

Journey to the Centre of the Earth

Oh man. Past few days i suffered through headaches + fever + sore throat + cold. Now i lost half my voice and my throat hurts :(

Okay i caught this movie with Jasper and Ben yesterday at Tampines Mall, just after midnight. Okay this show is severely highly overrated! Okay maybe i'm being unfair by not reviewing according to it's targeted age group.

This is a FAMILY movie. Youths (especially me) would find the whole thing absurd. Not because there is no such thing as 'world within a world', but because the whole story is a cheesecake.

STORY [8/10]
The story is pretty simple and straight forward, so there isn't much thinking involved to decipher what's the objective of the protagonist. Pretty much made for kids to understand. But this isn't a movie adaptation of the book itself. Well i didnt read the book myself but i know this because they were referring to the book itself in the movie. So it's about these guys who journey there, based on clues from the book.

COMPUTER GRAPHICS [4/10]
People tell me the graphics are good. Okay, the 3D models are pretty good, and the digitally-added backgrounds are so so. BUT! The finishing is very fake. It doesn't blend the actors and the backdrop seamlessly. The CG dust in the cave is also pretty crappy as it does not follow the motion of the camera (they just overlay a layer of animated dust particles). The colour palette is pretty okay but the bird that helps the boy is crap. It was like watching him with a Disney hand-drawn 2D cartoon.

ACTING & SCRIPT [5/10]
The main actors in this film are Brendan Fraser (The Mummy trilogy, George of the Jungle), Josh Hutcherson (Bridge to Terabithia, Zathura) and Anita Briem. Their acting are actually pretty good but the horrible dialogue brings their performance down, especially for Brendan. His character is full of cheesy lines.

Also there are several illogical events in the movie (e.g how they manage to easily out-run a T-Rex at jogging's pace, etc). Also the amount of pure luck that they have during their obstacles are too mind-blowing that it makes me and Ben say 'YEAH, RIGHT'. But since it's a work of fiction and a family film, whatever it takes to make the kids laugh then.

Oh and the final scene, which can be considered the ending, is LAME, to standards of mature audiences. But for a family film, it's alright.

MOVIE RATING [5.5/10]
It's okay for a good watch if you've got time to kill in the day. If you're intending to have an outing where watching a movie is the main highlight of the day, then this is a bad choice, unless you're with younger movie-goers or if you want something to rant about with your friends. Haha i ended up with the latter. Oh and the Icelandic chick is hot!

Oh and on a side note. People! Please don't download and watch all the recent films! Namely Kung Fu panda, TDK, Wall.e! The people involved spent time and money making potentially great films so it's only right that we pay to watch them! Integrity, people!

Argh i hate my desktop and my laptop. My desktop used to be super awesome 3 years ago (super expensive too) but lately it functions like a tortoise when i try to paint in Photoshop A4 size. I see the colour trail along seconds after where my brush stroke goes. It's irritating! How am i to pursue my passion of doing great large resolution digital paintings when my com is old?

I have no idea where it went wrong. 3GB ram and a reasonably good graphic card (was the best years ago). This sucks. And now widescreen is the way to go for computer screens. Sian!

And my laptop used to be able to handle digital paintings well.

This was fully painted on my laptop but after the virus attack thanks to some idiot at NAFA, my laptop became weird. I reformated it and upgraded to Windows Vista and now all the computing power is routed to the OS aesthetics just to make it look good. Argh!

God ah, God. Gimme money to get a new com! I can't even work on my website design properly with crap coms!

Can someone tell me a rough estimate of the cost if i were to get these to upgrade my desktop?:

My gambling addiction

The bunch of paper you see above there are all TOTO (lottery) tickets that i have bought over the past 6 months. The first major ones i bought were during Chinese New Year in February.

At first it was a fun form of gambling. Slowly my obsession to win big grew and before i knew it, i kept buying TOTO every week, each time buying at least $5-$10.

I always thought it was easy to stop but then the devil would keep whispering "Buy once more, you'll surely win millions!" and i would try my luck again and again.

Only recently did i finally overcome this addiction, thanks to the encounter camp by my church. Also a pastor prophesied that 2 individuals in the lecture room where he was preaching at the camp, would be blessed by God to be millionaires before hitting the age of 30. I'd like to believe that's me haha!

Well anyway, the final damage done due to TOTO gambling was:

Okay i'm abit lagging behind my updates.

Thursday

I went and had a haircut + dye. One final time before army enlistment ya? I have great reference images for Cloud's hairstyle, but it's pretty hard to get exactly that way, though it is proved it can be done (on a wig, that is. As shown below:)

The main problem is finding hair wax & spray strong enough to hold it the whole day. My current combination only holds it half a day (stupid Gatsby!).

Well anyway Thursday was at Far East Plaza having my hair done with Vivien. I feel damn bad sia she had to wait an eternity for my hair to be done haha! Sorry! Her hair cut is pretty nice too! In the end, my colouring + cut + shampoo is $95 (ouch!). Well the hairstylists there are pretty good and it's a worthwhile price for my FINAL funky hairstyle in a long while.

Oh and i bought an overpriced pair of skinnies. My first pair some more. I don't think i'm a total impulse shopper bah. I've been considering getting one for awhile, just that i have not gone to a shop to try on. I'm the kind of guy who plans what to look out for at home then buy them when i see them at shops. Seldom do i browse around. Anyway yea i paid double the price for the jeans. It's rip-off man. Vivi told me after i bought that it was overpriced and when i got home my sis scold me also LOL.

Friday

I woke up at 10am today. So happy that my body clock is adjusted back! (But i think i'm messing it up again since it's 4am when i'm blogging now).

Had cell group in the evening then met my favourite bunch from 2E1. We wound up playing games, having fun and laughing our bums off at Lydia's place.

I don't have the picture yet! The picture which proved that we stayed there till 2am! LOL. Although i stay a few blocks away, i got a ride from Desmond, since he's fetching everyone home anyway lol. Thanks and love you guys!

Anyway, i'll be adding improvements to my blog from time to time cos i was bored with the very old one.

So far, i added a background behind my blog for depth, added a labels categories under my links and labeled some of my posts. And now, i added a list-menu for the labels under my blog banner for easy navigation. I will be adding more label categories in time to come and also adding more stuff there.

Back from Encounter camp and Photomanipulations

Heya people sorry for not updating within the past few days. I was away on a church camp. The camp was great, for me, 'cos i've been far from God and i just needed to reboot my faith and experience Jesus again. Anyway had alot of laughs during the camp, made new friends, shared alot of my opinions about our current cell group transferrence and stuff. Plus, i caught a cold on the last day and when i sneeze, it feels like a hurricane coming outta my nose =_=.

Well anyway, as compensation for no update and the lack of photos for this post, i present thee with another photo manipulation image, done in photoshop:

Movie review for The Dark Knight! I caught the midnight show on Friday (technically a saturday) with my painful injuries. Anyway...

The Dark Knight is the sequel to Batman Begins. The story revolves around how the mob leaders in Gotham fear Batman and how the good guys are winning, with Harvey Dent being the political hero. Then a new criminal villain, Joker, shows up with a way to get rid of the Batman.

The show is 2.5 hours long so don't drink too much during the film! I held my pee for an hour so as not to miss any part. The climax is a roller-coaster throughout the movie, so you won't know what would happen next.

Heath Ledger's acting is superb. His portrayal of Joker is a fresh and more sinister one. This version of Joker is retains a portion of his cartoon version, with a twist of psychotic danger to boot. The action scenes are pretty okay, can't expect much from mortals fighting. The hidden villain which appears near the end is a nice surprise, i must admit. BUT still, a wasted villain. They killed him off too early.

One thing i hate about the film though, is WHAT THE HECK IS UP WITH BATMAN'S VOICE?!?!. The sound editors over-mixed his voice and instead of sounding mysterious and dark, he sounds like he's trying to speak with laryngitis. Dude i can't believe they let that pass.

But overall it's a pretty good movie, a must-watch for fans! (8.5/10)

A minor accident

Sprinting is a low-impact excercise which burns about the same calories as a jog. After my jog on Friday morning i wanted to do some sprints.

And i did. But halfway sprinting, my shoe came loose, i tripped over it, and fell forwards on the carpark ground on my elbows. I scraped across the ground for about 2 meters before finally coming to a stop.

Here's the damage:

The skin got ripped off from the finger on my left hand; 2 raw circular wounds on my left elbow

A large circular raw wound on my right elbow; 2 wounds on left foot, one toe's nail got ripped off

Large graze on left shoulder

I would take pics of the bloody wounds but i was in so much pain at that time, so i didnt bother. I also had a tetanus injection on my left arm to prevent tetanus from my injuries.

The male nurse at the hospital (West Point Hospital) i went was damn lazy. His name is Ridzwan. He didnt even put any antiseptic on my wounds or something. Just put the dressings. Then my toe's nail was dangling from the toe but he just bandaged the 2 toes together. Furthermore, The wound on my left arm was bigger than the dressings he had. Then he just lazily paste 1 to try to cover the whole thing. I had to ask him to put 2 to cover the whole wound. Damn freaking lazy. And the injection spot was bleeding, he didnt even put a plaster for that.

And the doctor damn cock one. I jog at 3+ am and he gives a wth weird face. It's not normal but it's not THAT weird what. Bloody give that 'huh?' face 3 times. Dude get over it lah. Never even prescribe painkillers, just some ointment for the wounds.

Everything i do now hurts badly. Cant walk properly, cant scratch my right shoulder and etc. It sucks. And when i have to change dressings (with my mum's help), it takes 1 hour. Damn sian.

Hancock & Red Cliff

Man i'm getting broke by watching so many movies + popcorn combos!

When i first saw this movie poster, i was thinking "Another movie like I AM LEGEND? Come on..." but i told myself i would watch it 'cos Will Smith is a damn good actor. Then i saw the trailer. DAMN! I'm SO gonna watch it.

Hancock is about a man with superpowers (invulnerability, super-strength, flight) but he is reckless and always cause collateral damage around him when he tries to save the day. Don't let the trailer fool you. The synopsis and trailer is only telling half the story. The twist in the show actually made me exclaimed "WHOA..." in the cinmea. Very unexpected.

Now, alot of film critics rated Hancock negatively. I beg to differ to a certain extent.

The story is pretty fresh compared to the current superhero movies (Ironman, Hulk, Batman). It's a very real-world scenario where property damage and public backlash is an issue. It's funny cos Will Smith is a damn good actor and the script is not too bad. The story is nice and light-hearted yet deep and touching at the same time.

Majority of my points go to the films' music though. They chose the right set of tracks for the right scene. I was watching this scene near the end of the film and the music really brought the sorrow out in the film.

A must-watch, if you want something new and fresh. (8/10)

(The original titles for Hancock were "Tonight, He Comes" and "John Hancock". Even some other corny ones were suggested because they felt the title "Hancock" was too vague. But Sony stuck to the current title and depended on Will Smith's popularity to sell the movie.)

Red Cliff (Synopsis: http://www.gv.com.sg/moviedetails/gv_moviedetails_2592.jsp)
Okay i seldom watch chinese films because 20% of the time my eyes are reading the sub-titles. And the problem with Red Cliff is a few of the dialogue happens so quickly that the sub-titles literally flash for a second and switch to the next one.

Anyway, this film is based on the Three kingdoms era in ancient china. The computer graphics (CG) effects were pretty good, in comparison to the other chinese films with so-so CG effects. This films' CG was done primaly by "The Orphanage", if i'm not wrong. It's a US company that also worked on some of the CG for Zohan, Ironman, Pirates of the Caribbean: World's End.

At a film budget of US$80 million, this is the most expensive asian film ever made. (Same budget as Hellboy 1 movie.) Also, the characters are portrayed by a superstar cast. The close up shots were abit irritating but not comical and awkward like "Warlords". The fight scenes are full of CG blood but are pretty cool. The action is also pretty good, although in some scenes the extras look so reluctant to fight, it's like they're waiting for a 15-minute break that they didn't get. I mean, in a real war, you can look so stoned meh?

Another scene where 2 armies charge one another, the frontline troops are such bad actors (or maybe it's bad choreography) that both sides aim their spears upwards, so that they make sure they strike their opponent's spear above their heads, rather than aiming to kill your opponent by stabbing his chest. Ya lah i know it's acting and safety is important. But these guys wield their spears so slowly that it seems so fake.

But the main actors do their job well. Surprising, there's some comedy involved to liven up the mood of the movie (although half the jokes i didnt laugh with the rest of the cinema cos i plain dont get it).

It's a pretty decent film to watch. Try not to drink too much before and during the film though. At 150 mins (2.5 hours) long, you don't wanna miss Red Cliff for 'Yellow Water'. (7/10)

(According to Wikipedia, in Asia, this is the first of 2 parts of the battle of Red Cliff. Outside of Asia, it's just this movie as a stand alone. Part 2 of the movie is coming out in January 2009.)

Oh and alot of people tell me "Don't mess with the Zohan" is not worth the money to watch in the cinema. I guess i'll wait till the DVD is out so i can rent it haha.

Okay finally i can make movie reviews because i've finally caught a few movies in the cinemas!

First off, it's:

Get Smart (Synopsis: http://www.gv.com.sg/moviedetails/gv_moviedetails_7661.jsp)

Okay Steve Carrel is the new funny guy. Even his face alone is funny. This movie is a remake of a TV series. It stars an analyst-turned-field agent who saves the world. The comedy in the show is just hilarious and Anne Hathaway is hot! And The Rock's superb acting only reinforces the movie. Definitely must watch! (8.5/10)

Okay i was a student who majored in animation and i tend to watch animation movies with friends who can truly appreciate how animation is done. Me and Damian (my best buddy) have been watching alot and giving praises to movies such as Cars and Ratatouille and also making fun of the crappiness of Bee Movie.

Dreamwork's latest movie, Kung Fu Panda, is an instant phenomenon. It's excels in animation quality and the models. The story is simple yet superb and the comedy factor blends with the action. It's a movie that seals Dreamworks as a powerful competitor against Pixar. A few things i don't like about the movie is, Angelina Jolie and Jackie Chan's talents were wasted in this film. Jackie barely said more than 15 words in the entire movie and his character, the Monkey, did not get enough character development. And the over-use of bullet-time (slow motion) is irritating.

But again, Kung Fu Panda is near-perfect. Definitely getting the Special Edition DVD for this! (9/10)

Stay till after the credits and you'll see abit more stuff :)

Just hope Pixar's upcoming Wall.E will help them regain their title as leading animation studio. (Btw, their is an inside joke among my NAFA friends. There is a local 3D animation movie coming soon. It's working title is 'Kung Fu Gecko' but they might change it due to legal issues. After watching KFPanda, Nickson Fong (KFGecko's director) confirm crap in his pants!)

The Incredible Hulk (Synopsis: http://www.gv.com.sg/moviedetails/gv_moviedetails_7681.jsp)
Compared to the first (recent) Hulk movie, this is WAY better. Ang Lee's HULK movie was a drastic pain to watch. It's draggy and the CG isn't spectacular.

The Incredible Hulk is considered a relaunch and a sequel to the previous movie. Relaunch as in, the Hulk is a new threat and the story line puts it such that they've only recently encoutered him. Also a sequel because, they showed how he became the Hulk through flashbacks, leaving the origin story to be known in the previous film.

The action and CGI in this show is pretty good. Edward Norton is a perfect choice as Bruce Banner. He fits the role perfectly. Liv Tyler is just on-screen eye candy. Didn't really feel her portraing the character though. And alot of the dialogue is lame. Still, definitely not a pain to watch. (7/10)

Step up to the next level

As the title says, that was the theme of the Tyrbe Volunteer Camp. I actually forgot to include this very important section in my previous post =/

On the 3rd day, there were some unexpected technical difficulties. So i challenged myself to the next level. I volunteered to sing in front of the crowd. Now, i've never sang to a public before, i have no idea how good my singing is.

Eventually i did go up to the front and sing. On a scale of 1 to 10 for nervousness, i was feeling a 15. And cos of that, i felt i didnt sing at my 100%. HOWEVER, the fact that i saw through my personal challenge and completed it is more than enough to make me feel good! And a million thanks to Daniel who accompanied me in the front for moral support. Thanks bro!

Later on, Ethan encouraged Henzy to step up too, by performing a magic trick in front. From what i understand, Henzy did not perform in front of a large audience too. He saw through his challenge too and doesnt matter what happened, at least he and i took the bold step to the next level!

Well done Henzy!

And also the committee for the Trybe Volunteer Camp took the step. They planned the whole camp by themselves. Many thanks to them for organizing such an enjoyable camp!

Trybe Volunteer Camp

The Trybe camp was really fantastic! It's been eons since i was a participant, rather than a facilitator/trainer. And this camp is a special one in it's own right. It is fully organized and planned by youth volunteers at Trybe! The main committee (from what i know) is Min Min, Gabriel, Daniel, Steven Jr, Vivien, Ethan, Vege, Bing Rong, Ash, and Joshua (sorry if i left someone out).

Our camp was held at PGP at NUS. First day was abit cold on my part, didnt make the effort to befriend people. But after the programme for the day, i warmed up to a few new friends. Nic shared the 7 core values of being a Trybe volunteer, which really spoke to me alot. Daniel also had a session on public speaking. We had a mini debate with my team (group 2) pitting against Nic's team (group 1). The topic was, 'Girls can drive'. My team was against and Nic's was for. And funny thing is, Nic also agree girls cant drive! So from the start he jialat liao hahaha. We had Jovi, she so cute cos she drives and she also agrees to a certain extent girls cant drive hahaha.

In this camp, each camper had a room to themself, which was werid. I thought of socializing with roomies and all that (that's why i didnt bring PSP!)That night i tried to sleep but couldnt cos my body clock was messed up (i can only fall asleep at 6am). So i tossed and turned in bed from 2am all the way till 730am, with no sleep at all. Mind you, i WANTED to sleep cos the next day had the 'De Ion Race' (something like Amazing race, with checkpoints and stuff).

In the end, i had NO sleep at all. I drank 4 servings of coffee to help survive throughout the day.

Dy, Kaiyun and Laura popped by for awhile, so did Sam, Christina and Ariel (i hope i spelt it correctly).

The 'De Ion Race' was situated all around NUS. Each group has 5 stations and upon reaching the station, they have to perform a task for points. My group's boundary was around Engineering block. At first, we ran to a checkpoint but that wasnt our first one, so we had to pick another and run there. In the end it wasnt the first station again. Still, our group's morale was pretty high, and im very impressed with their positive attitude.

Eventually we got the station placings right and performed the tasks. Not only did we do it honestly, we also broke 2 time records! Morale sky-rocketed. We also used our brains in the games haha. One of the station clue was given to us wrongly. It points to a location which was not in our boundary. So we wasted a fair bit of time running back and forth, looking for the landmark which is impossible in our area.

Near the end of the race, we completed the rubberband jump rope task and also solved Ethan's riddle to score lots of points.

The people in my group, Dalphne, Cyndi, Sharon Pork, Jovita, Myself and Teeyang, super proud! We jogged 90% of the way, which totaled up to more than 7km.

After the race, we went back to PGP and showered. Slacked around then ate dinner. Also planned for 'Riot Nite', which was like a performance night. I got the glamorous role of playing a super-rich grandmother. Well at least people laughed so i guess it was alright. After the performance night, coffee's power lost its effect, felt super tired.

Next day, after breakfast, we all took photos. The first time they took, no one invite me! So i shall photoshop myself in. I imagine myself as Optimus:

NS recruit dies after training walk

A 20-YEAR-OLD national serviceman died in hospital after he fainted during training on Pulau Tekong on Tuesday morning.

Recruit Andrew Cheah Wei Siong had only enlisted five days ago into natioal service.

The polytechnic graduate fainted at 8.35am while he was taking part in a 2km walk at the Basic Military Training Centre on the island. He was given immediate medical attention by doctors.

At 9.24am, Mr Cheah was evacuated by helicopter to the Singapore General Hospital. Medical staff from the Singapore Armed Forces continued to resuscitate him en route.

However, they failed to revive him and he was pronounced dead at 10.50am at SGH.

The Defence Ministry is investigating the incident.

As many of you know, i like to tell the story of the secondary school mate who stalked me. But in a surprising twist of fate, that guy, Andrew Cheah, died this morning in NS.

Aside from the weird memories of him, he was still a 3E3 student. In a small school like Yuan Ching Secondary School, we all feel like a family (despite him stalking me). Now that he's gone, its kinda makes you forget all the bad stuff he did to us (or i did to him for that matter).

Don't know what else to say. Lost for words for such a tragic and unexpected incident. Condolences to his family.

On sunday had dinner with NAFA friends, celebrate the June babies, Daniel, Damian and Sheena. Went to Yaki Yuki at Marina Square. Food is okay but we had fun so its alright.

Later played daytona then went home.

[Tutorial] Converting PS1 games to PSP

SO you have a pile of old Playstation 1 games lying around the room and you've gotten yourself the PSP! Sick of playing Crisis Core or your Pata Pon thingy? Feel like playing your old games again but can't find the converted version online?

Then this tutorial/guide is for you!
Warning! If you are using Sony Firmware 3.10 or higher, this will not work for you!

To navigate around the steps, copy the text in the '[ ]', hit 'CTRL + F' then paste it into the search box.
STEP 1: Extracting the ISO from you PS1/PSX Game CD-------- [ST1EX]
STEP 2: Converting the ISO into an EBOOT------------------------- [ST2CN]
STEP 3 (Optional): Customizing the look of your EBOOT-------- [ST3CU]
STEP 4 : Loading the EBOOT into your PSP------------------------- [ST4LO]

STEP 1: Extracting the ISO from you PS1/PSX Game CD [ST1EX]

You'll need 3 computer programs to convert it (the third one is to customize the look of the game in your PSP). I took the liberty of combining all 3 into one PSP pack. Click the link below to download from Megaupload.

PSP Converter Pack
(Must have Megaupload toolbar for your browser installed!)

Once you've downloaded the pack, open it up and you should see 3 files:
- isobuster_all_lang (Installation file)
- PSPbrew_070 (Installation file)
- psx2psp v.1.2 (Zipped file)

Install 'isobuster_all_lang' first. The first time you launch 'IsoBuster', it will prompt you to register. You can just use the 'Free funct.'. If you wish to donate money to the creator of the program, then you can register.

Now to begin the conversion. This step is to extract the ISO from your PS game CD. Put your PS1/PSX game into your computer CD drive. Launch 'IsoBuster' and it should automatically detect your game. Should look something like this:

At the left column, at the top of the branch is 'CD'. Right-click on that, select 'Extract CD < image >' then 'RAW (*.bin, *.iso)'. Next it will ask you where to save the extracted .bin and create a new folder wherever you want and save it there (name it after you game for your own referenc. It doesn't matter). Next a progress bar should appear which means it has begun extracting.

After extraction, it will prompt you again on where to save the .cue file. Just save it in the same folder (it's not that important). Lastly, go to the folder where you saved the extracted files and add the extension '.iso' behind the .bin file. Here's an example:

Do note that the icon look does not matter! If you followed the steps carefully, it will be fine!

STEP 2: Converting the ISO into an EBOOT [ST2CN]

From the Converter Pack, extract the zipped file named 'psx2psp v.1.2' and a bunch of folders + a program called 'PSX2PSP'. Double-click on 'PSX2PSP'. If this is the first time launching it, it will ask whether you want 'Theme' or 'Classic' mode. Just go with 'Theme'. Then the program will launch:

At the lower right corner of the interface, click on 'Convert menu' and it should look like this:

Click on the '...' (as pointed by the red arrow in the image above). This is to browse for your ISO. So select the ISO file (the file as mentioned in STEP 1 where you had to add the extension '.iso' at the back of it). If done correctly, 'PSX2PSP' should automatically fill up the rest of the fields, except for 'Output PBP folder'. This field is to select where you want the converted EBOOT file to be saved at. So you can create a new folder if you want and save it there. Just be sure you know where your files are.

If you are converting a multi-disc game (Final Fantasy VII for example; 3 discs), make sure all three ISO you load into 'PSX2PSP' has the same 'SAVE ID'.

Once all of this is done, click 'Convert' and it should start converting the ISO into an EBOOT file. When you're done, you should have the EBOOT file at the location you specified previously.

At this point, the EBOOT is ready to be played on your PSP! However, when selecting from the game list in your PSP, the icon and background will be the default ones by 'PSX2PSP'. There is an option to customize these in 'PSX2PSP' (right next to the 'Convert' button) however i personally use 'PSP Brew' (located in the converter pack). To each his/her own choice! I only have a guide to 'PSP Brew' here though.

To skip the customization process and straight away throw it into you PSP, skip to STEP 4.

STEP 3 (Optional): Customizing the look of your EBOOT [ST3CU]

You'll need PHOTOSHOP or any other image editing software!

First, in your image editing software, open up 2 new documents; 480x272pix and 144x80 pix. The larger one is used as the background for your EBOOT and the smaller one is the selection icon. Put whatever you want for these 2 items then save them as .png files. Name them this way:

Background image -------> PIC01
Icon --------------------------> ICON0

Examples:

Next, install the program 'PSPbrew_070'. Launch the program once installation is done. After loading, an interface will appear:

At the top right corner of the program, select 'Load PBP'. Choose your EBOOT (done in STEP 3). In the middle of the interface, there is a text field with the heading 'Background image (PIC01.PNG)'. Load the background image you done in your Image editing software (in the mentioned above). And likewise for the field below with the heading 'Main Icon (ICON0.PNG)'. You can experiment with the other fields but these 2 are the basic essentials.

Once you're happy with it, at the right side of the program, select 'Save PBP' which is directly under the 'Load PBP' button. Keep the name as EBOOT.

STEP 4 : Loading the EBOOT into your PSP [ST4LO]

The last step is pretty simple. Create a new folder (preferably name it after your game's title) and put the final EBOOT file in it. Copy this folder, connect your PSP to the computer and go to 'X:\PSP\Game\'. Paste your folder here and voila! Your game should appear under the games listing in your PSP now!

DISCLAIMER:
Converted games will not definitely work 100% accurately on the PSP as compared to the Playstation home console due to numerous factors! This is the best that the current converters can achieve!

Paintball with arty farties

We went to Orchid Country Club to play a 4 on 4 paintball match. Like me, most of my friends did not play before and so this was a first for us.

They briefed us on how to use the gun, saftey procedures, game rules. Once everything is done, we chionged and play! The gun can actually fire quite far but the aiming isn't that accurate for some guns.

That's the paintball. It's actually quite hard, not like jelly-like which i thought it would be. And i tell you, 1000 ammo shared among 8 people not fun. Guys got heavy finger, like to anyhow shoot! The girls like to conserve ammo.

Too bad it rained halfway and we only managed to play 4 rounds.

Those are the spots where the paintball hit me directly. It hurt quite a bit but if you're not used to pain, then it will be an unenjoyable experience for you! I also got a bleed on my right and left knuckles.

After that we went bowling. Sorry no pictures cos we having too much fun. Karliang from longkang scorer suddenly became top! Heng i wasnt the last. Haha Sheena!

Wah super tired.

Just came back from the Great Singapore Sale. Only managed to buy 2 shirts. The Fred Perry polos ran out of size! Sian ji buah.

But anyway, ate dinner with Jasmine at Chicago Steak House at Cineleisure. Sorry no pictures. Firstly their food is actually quite nice. But then everything else sucks. Service especially. So having dinner with a lawyer who is super picky about it is very entertaining.

We asked for our drinks to be served first but our steaks came faster than our drinks (1 soda and 1 mug of beer). And then it took another 15 minutes before the drinks finally arrived (we had to ask them to check 3 times).

And lastly, they actually served us the wrong food. And was quite stubborn with the fact that we didnt want to pay for service charge. In the end we got like $10 off. What a shame. Their food was really nice.

I actually spent more than Jasmine today haha. But she bought more. Walk around until very tired. But shiok still. My first GSS!

The client was there eating also so sat down and chit chat. After that Anthony forgot to bring his office key out then we kena locked out since the others went and eat. So...

Okay i admit i havent felt God's prescence in a long time, ever since December. Felt him abit at the start of this year then turn my back on him again.

Funny thing happened though, 2 nights ago, i teared in my sleep because i could somehow hear 'You are my all in all' playing.

Still no faith though, but i know i'm still being blessed by God because right after my graduation, i didn't have to look for a job. Jobs looked for me! Now handling about 3 design projects, all for websites.

Somehow it seems the family is getting smaller. Slowly i feel ostracized. I don't know why i feel this way but this is how it seems.

I miss the times when my hair is coloured!

Anyway although project is over, i still have 1 retake subject to finish (in a day hah!) and i suddenly find myself swamped with work, not that i'm complaining of course. Freelancing with iPower, gonna build a website for Kaiyun, gonna take on at least 2-4 website jobs for a friend of my mum's.

Why won't anyone hire me for drawing and painting?! Oh right. No demand. Bummer.

Another quick update

Okay assessment didnt go as well as we planned. We had a shortage of time and stuff. Long story short, we didnt get to present our work because we were late by 5 mins. Half of my class was late and suffered the same fate as well.

According to a source though, the lecturers screened our work during the assessment anyways (bear in mind, those who are deemed late are not allowed to be in the same room as well). And some of the key lecturers have praise for our work. They just repeat 'why you late!'. Kind of disappointing.

Anyway, now it's another final 100m dash in my diploma studies. I have just over 36 hours to touch-up, add-on and fix our final animation so that it can be in time for our graduation show. It's really crazy.

My graduation show is on the 8th-11th May. 8th is the opening, so i dont know if it's open to the public. I just got word today that me and Nora are in charge of ushering on the opening day. Poop. My church family, for your convenience you can (if you want lah) come by after service on sunday to see see. I need to station there the whole day during these 4 days, so i think i'll be missing service.

Final note: i got a few promotional surprises for my group's animation so check back to my blog early next week!

One last quick update till assesment

This is it. Monday is our final assesment. Despite this stressful period, alot of the year 3s are kind of relaxed and having fun. But of course it's the relieve the tension in the computer labs.

The 2 computer labs in school have been on 24 hours a day for almost 2 weeks now. Constantly being used to render our 3D files out.

We did a test on the LCD screen and our lecturer liked it alot. Now the pressure is on to finish it with high quality so that we wont disappoint him and ourselves.

Basically my role is being the lead concept artist and designer. The 3D models and the final treatment to the film is being done by Damian and Daniel. The main animators are me and Daniel and Damian is the main lighting artist. The stuff i do are the other peripherals of the project, like the movie poster, the DVD cover, etc. Right now i'm in charge of the audio for the animation.

I do hope to see my friends at my animation screening during my graduation show. If you do not consider me as a friend or you are too lazy to come, no hard feelings (:, but you'll be missing out.

I think i gotta be handling some administration matters for the grad show. No word on it yet S:,

A short update

This morning i did a good thing. It was pouring heavily but lucky i have my Cherie-says-it's-damn-aunty umbrella with me. Then at the junction across my school, there's a girl who didnt have an umbrella and she looks distressed. She kept checking her phone, calling her friend and looking at the watch. So i offered and sheltered her to school. Doing something good makes me feel good the rest of the day man.

Been feeling under the weather recently, mainly thanks to the weather. In 2 weeks i managed to get a persistent cough, flu, blocked nose, headaches, rashes and billions of mosquito bites. Also i failed the attendance of one of my class which i keep oversleeping, and i have to rush 2 major re-take subjects, which i have completed one, i have the portfolio homework to be done also. Plus on top of all these, i got my Final year project, which is due on monday and my group is about 70% ready.

Just pray that my debarred subject will be settled and i dont have to wait till my NS is over to retake that subject and get my diploma.

On the good side though, the movie poster i did for my group's FYP animation got selected to be in the NAFA Grad Show catalogue and the previous website design i did also got selected. I'm really pleased because i played quite a major role in both these 2 in terms of design aspect. It'll really help with my portfolio and resume.

Lastly, my graduation show will be in the 2nd week of may i think. If you consider yourself my friend, come and see! I'll release the movie poster once all the loose ends are settled.

If you think Crisis Core is just another game, or if it's gonna disgust you if i blog about a game, then piss off. I like it. I don't care what you think.

Story wise,the game is surprisingly impactful and i can really imagine Zack's emotions for Aerith. The music is also very well done, it brings forth the emotion easily. Still i highly suggest you play Final Fantasy 7b first THEN crisis core.

Today, the 6th of April, would have been my father's 49th birthday but alas,
cancer took him away from my family on the 27th of March.
It was especially painful,
seeing that he was a mere 10 days away from his birthday back then in 2001.

Back then, i was a spoilt boy who got every toy or gadget i wanted.
We had a comfortable life and i took everything for granted.
I'd always want things my way, and i'd throw tantrums if i didn't.

My father did a great job raising me. I only wish i was mature enough to appreciate it back then.
Everytime i think back, i have regrets in my heart for not showing gratitude to him,
showing love, being a good son.

It's been 7 years since i've lived without a father.
I miss his occasional encouragements.
I miss his scoldings.
I miss the sly look he gives if i'm hiding something.
I miss the rough shaven chin feeling on my shoulder when i hug him.
And even when he's gone, i miss dreaming about him.

2 weeks ago on sunday, my family and his siblings went to pray for him.
While they held joss sticks and such,
I stood there with a lot of emptiness in an area of my heart.

That's my dad in his early years (19 i think) with my grandma. I never got to see her.

Knowing that my dad was an officer in the army made me more determine to be one too. He is in the armour division.

My dad (circled) with his family. My aunt (in blue) is his older sister. My dad was born when she was celebrating her birthday as a young girl. So it was very heart-wrenching for her to know her youngest brother, the brother with the same birthdate as her, passed away.

My dad was all smiles when he met my mum. He is an optimistic guy with alot of humour.

Diagnosed with liver cancer, lost his hair to chemotherapy.

I have a couple of photos of him months before he was hospitalized but i can't find them at the moment. However, he looks like in the previous picture above except his skin is yellow from all the radiation from treatment, his hair is in patches and sparse, he didn't have alot of appetite all the time and lost weight, became half the size and he became aged and worn out, looking more like a grandfather instead.

After battling cancer for close to 2 years, he eventually lost. His body ravaged by the disease, decimating his liver, lungs and kidneys. My only hope is that in his heart, during his final hours, he accepted Christ when his christian friends came to pray for him.

Louis Chan, is my hero.

After reading this, i hope you'll look at your dad, give him a hug and tell him you love him. You might never get another chance to do so.

The Money Authority of Singapore (MAS) says the $50 notes with the letters "KF" marked on them are considered to be deliberately mutilated and they command no value.

This reply came in response to a feedback from Lee, who said he withdrew several $50 notes from OCBC Compass Point, of which three had the letters "KF" printed on them.

When he consulted the bank about the notes, he was told that there was no problem with the notes.

However, MAS says the letters "KF", which appear to be marking stamped onto the note, are not part of the design of the $50 note.

It advises the public who receive the notes with the "KF" marking to bring them back to the banks for one-for-one exchange.

This is the reply from the MAS in full:

"The letters "KF", which appear to be marking stamped onto the note, are not part of the design of the $50 note.

"Notes with such marking are considered to be deliberate mutilation and they command no value.

Day of frustration and disappointments

Well like the blog title shows, today is a crap day.
Day filled with frustration and disappointments.

Well, it all started around 12+pm but nvm i'll just skip to the worst parts.

Went to Ikea after school to buy a badly-needed wardrobe for myself.
The model i wanted, that they show on their website, is out of production.
What the crap man. If it's out of production, why still have it up there?
Freaking pissed. The others they have on display are way too expensive and unneccesary for my basic requirements.
Okay so in the end, went across the street to buy some cheap-donkey vinyl wardrobe for $28.

Provided are enough parts to make it stand at about my height.
But the DAMN VINYL COVER ONLY REACHES TO MY SHOULDER HEIGHT.
SO WHY GIVE PARTS FOR IT TO BE BIG WHEN IT'S MEANT TO BE SMALLER?
So i removed the extra aluminium bars and that's when the whole thing fall apart.

And it hates me. Bloody thing cut me:

Well after so long, my mum finally had decided to get a part-time job to earn extra money. But today she was released from the company along with the other part-timers as the business had some problem with the Money Authority of Singapore.

Well let's see. Today was a good service. Felt abit sleepy though cos i didnt get much sleep last night.

Praise God, Damian (my long-time best friend) came along to church today! So glad he could come visit.

Service was about how ugly death is, and how to overcome it. Btw, today is Easter sunday, the day Jesus rose from the dead. ZOMBIE JESUS! Nah kidding.

After that went to Carl's Jr at Plaza Sing to eat then played LAN at Paradiz with Ben, Frans, Jasper, Wayne, Damian, Tian Ci. Played dota abit then had more fun with CS, especially the knife-and-para rounds. Cheaters! And frans is the shield guy. Lol.

My seinheiser earphones are dead ):, my longest lasting pair (1 year). Someone bless me with new earphones!

While having late dinner with Ben, Melvin and Tian Ci at Clementi, we saw a Volkswagon Beetle caught fire in the engine and jam the road. Damn cool. Flames were HUGE. Fireman came and put it out real quick.

Well it's been an eventful weekend for me.
The sudden change is causing me to feel very sian at the moment.
Thank God for my best friend Damian, who's there to provide a listening ear.
Kind of a big withdrawal symptom feeling but i guess eventually it'll happen.
Now just need time and God to heal me up quick. My school work is beginning to suffer.

This would be my first time going in all my 2-3 years in FCBC.
Friday is Good Friday.
Seems like yesterday since the last GF at Ahpa's house.
Hope time passes this fast when i'm in the army.
Well i think my relationship with my mother is getting better.
Not as good as it was but better than the recent months.

Well it's been a horrible time for me so far. A lot of disappointments happened and happened. Very hard for me to look on the bright side cos i have nothing to look forward each week. 8 torturous weeks. I so hate circumstances. I remember being very optimistic long ago. Now i feel so cynical that even that gets on people's nerves. It's not like i don't wanna be positive... just that it's so hard knowing that there's nothing good coming. Well things at home are better and i am slowly trying to talk to my mum again. But i feel quite tired. I want to rest and rot but i have got school work to do. Choking me. I know some of you that see me in person, see me laugh or smile, and then read this and wondering why it doesn't tally, here's why: i think i am bottling up my feelings. Well anyway, school has been a bitch. Like as if we dont have enough things to do, some lame lecturer wanna throw in a social project for us to do. And to top it off, i have retake subjects. Damn crud. Work's been fun though, only cos im getting money. Argh. Sian.

Well i lost my eyebrow stud when i went for my NS medical checkup.
Bought a new one after that. Burned $38 in my pocket.
